Need recommendations and advice for gaming computer build - 1400 CAD budget

I am currently planning on building a computer for gaming purposes. I plan on playing World of Warcraft, League of Legends, BF4 and Farcry. Idealy i'd like to play the first 2 on maximum settings with 60+ Fps at all times, and the 2 latter with the best i can get from a budget of 1300-1400 dollars canadian, though the latter arent as important to me..

I am really new to building computers so i'd like any reccomendations and corrections to my build as i am not entirely confident that all these components can work correctly together, if possible i'd like some case reccomendations as im not entirely sure which cases can hold all these components.

Additionally, i was wondering, is it possible for me to build this computer and only use a SSD? as well as not use a CD rom drive.

if your not going to over clock or sli save some money go with micro atx mb and a locked cpu. use the savings for a hard drive. (ssd have limited writes so your better off using a hd for holding music and downloads).

How will downgrading ( I assume?) to the i5 6500 affect overall performance and future upgrades?
additionally, with that build would you recommend I keep the 970? or maybe go for something like the r290, i assume the new pascal from nvdia will generally cost more.

for streaming this is a letdown but for gaming not at all however for the extra 20-30bucks i think its really nice ofc up to you.

You play old games that don't need a GTX 970. If you're trying to build on a budget, I would get something else. The GTX 970 is still pricey right now. If you were playing something like The Division that just came out I would say otherwise.

The main reason I am looking at the 970 is because I'd like to have the option to play these newer games later on with decent quality, its just the games i play mostly are the ones i put in the original post in order of most played to least.

wrong: the gtx 970 is todays card best bang for the buck(performance/price wise).
for the games he mentioned: battlefield 4 and farcry 4 the gtx 970 allows him to play on ultra.

Ok I just did a little more research real quick I'll agree with you it Is good for the price since you can snag one up for around $320.00...I was going by the price you quoted from some site I never heard of, which is way way over what you should pay.

GTX 970 seems like a winner to me.
