Hi guys!

I'm in the process of buying myself parts for building a new pc and want some opinions on it, especially the GPU part.

My build:
-MOBO: msi z97 krait edition
-CPU: i7-4790K
-GPU: gtx 970 or gtx 980 (is there any reason I should no get the gtx 980 appart from the price difference?)
-RAM: Kingston hyperx 1866 (4x4gb)
-CASE: NZXT H440
-CPU cooler: Corsair H105 Hydro series
-PSU: Antec edge 750w (80 gold plus)
-SSD: Intel 730 240gb x2
-HHD: Seagate SATA3 1TB 7200rpm

I will use it for both Gaming and video editing and rendering. Would getting the 980 be a good thing, and will it work? Or am I just better off sticking with the 970?

Thanks guys

Solution
The 970 will do you fine until you want full setting 4K gaming or running high definition triple monitors. Even then dropping some settings will let you do it.
The 970 is better bang for your buck, and on a single monitor it won't be strained. If you're video editing I recommend another drive for raw file storage, like a Western Digital Green. You'll go through a terrabyte faster than you realize with video files.

Yeah I heard it's better value for money. And thanks! didn't think of RAW file storage actually!

But what do you mean it won't be strained on a single monitor? Will the 980 be strained?

I thought about that, but after some reading they said that it's useless as you barely notice a difference in speed and performance

Oh ok I see what you mean, sorry got a bit confused with what you said. But thanks!

So you think overall the 970 stays the better pick?

It's great for loading times in things like Skyrim. But, not necessary, if you don't want to. I personally use two Raid-0 SSDs for the most loading-intensive games like Mass Effect 3 and Skyrim (with around 300 mods) and a 1TB HDD for everything else.

Ah ok, I could always get another 970 when I would need to do that though and run it in SLI? And I will do more reading into the SSD's. But I thought I would use one for my games and other for my editing programs and OS. Further store all the other stuff on the HDD
