Hi tomhardware team, I need some help in making the right choice and I am confused. I need an RTX 3070, Intel i7 or AMD Ryzen that has enough power for video editing and 3d modelling / rendering without lagging, found a lot of laptops but not sure which one to go for.

I must confess I am not very experienced with this. I have managed to narrow down my choices to a number of laptops but I really don't know which would be the way to go, too many reviews out there and I am not really sure what's genuine and what isn't! I compiled a list of laptops that I found out there, I would prefer something that has RTX3070 and intel i7 but I like I said I am not so experienced and I need something very powerful and competent enough for 3d modelling, video editing and possibly gaming (also something that's good for the price as price is also a factor) . Really hope the experts out here can help me out.

I would probably choose this one. Fastest CPU, and 2nd fastest GPU.

Thanks for replying, are Acer laptops better than Lenovo brands? I am normally told that Lenovo Legion brands are the one to go for but this gives a totally new perspective

I have both an Acer Predator with a 7th gen i7, and gtx 1060 6gb, and a Lenovo Legion with a 9th gen i7, and a 1660ti. Neither have given me problems. I do like my lenovo legion better, but most of that is subjective, after you consider the performance gaps. I did some looking where you are ordering from, and ran across this Lenovo Legion.

In the US, I have done well by calling Lenovo and talking with a salesman.
They know their products and where the good deals are.
Many laptops can be custom configured if need be.
Look at the workstation line in particular.
One spec that is important but overlooked is the quality of the display.
Look at the brightness spec 500 nits is good.
High powered laptops need very good cooling or they will throttle.
I think the Lenovo legion and thinkpad units are particularly well designed.
Look at the Thinkpad T15p gen3 workstation units:
https://www.lenovo.com/gb/en/d/LAPT...m=splitter&sort=sortBy&resultsLayoutType=grid
Thinkpad keyboards are particularly good.

You think this is the best Lenovo Legion they have there?

12th gen Intel is going to be much better than those from the official website, that you linked, as they are 11th gen.
Apologize if it seems like I am asking too much but I noticed the one you suggested earlier on has an intel i7-12700H processor

https://www.computeruniverse.net/en/p/90912703

and the one I got from the official website has an Intel i9-11980HK Processor

https://www.lenovo.com/de/de/laptop...gRef=https%3A%2F%2Fforums.tomshardware.com%2F ,

what is the difference between Intel Core i9 11980HK and i7 12700H, which is newer and has better performance? also with one being i9 and the other i7, does that make it better? After this I would decide on what to go for.

The 12700h is the newer chip, and it will be faster as well. Intel really did a healthy improvement to their IPC, for 12th gen.

narrowed down to

Lenovo Legion 5i 15IAH7H 82RB007DGE

  • 39.6 cm (15.6") Notebook, Windows 11 Home
  • Display: 2560 x 1440, 165Hz, G-SYNC®, IPS, non-glare
  • Intel Core™ i7-12700H 6x 1.70 GHz
  • NVIDIA® GeForce® RTX 3070 8.0 GB
  • 16 GB RAM, 1 TB SSD
  • 1x Thunderbolt 4, 2x USB 3.1 Gen1 Typ C, 3x USB 3.1 Gen1, Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax)
and

Lenovo Legion 5 15IAH 82RB00LLGE i7-12700H 16GB/1TB 15" WQHD RTX3070 nOS

  • 39.6 cm (15.6") Notebook, without OS
  • Display: 2560 x 1440, 165Hz, G-SYNC®, IPS, non-glare
  • Intel Core™ i7-12700H 14x 1.70 GHz
  • NVIDIA® GeForce® RTX 3070 8.0 GB
  • 16 GB RAM, 1 TB SSD
  • 1x Thunderbolt 4, 2x USB 3.1 Gen1 Typ C, 3x USB 3.1 Gen1, Wi-Fi 6E (802.11ax)

my question is this, the specs are exactly identical, why are the prices different?
