Need to install an internal Blu Ray read-writer inside a new case, that has no odd or 5.25" bays, but has space ?

I found a new case, seems ideal - a Phanteck Enthoo Evolv ATX, but it has no internal odd bay or any 5.25" bays.
Is there a way I can mount this Pioneer BDR-S09XLT 16x SATA Blu-ray DVD-RW Writer, Black, RETAIL, inside the case?

It will only be used to load some software like MS Office, Photoshop, Adobe Premier , Canon DPP, and Portraiture - I only have these on disc . My os is on a usb stick.

I dont mind if I have to open the door to use this, as its only a one off re- load thing. And the case has an easy to open swing door on hinges.

Is it just a matter of plugging in a sata data cable and a sata power cable. Or does one need some special odd header cable?
I assume the sata power cable will have sufficient power to run a blu ray drive?

Apologies but I have no idea how these things work, my initial idea was to buy a 5.25" drive caddy and screw it to the psu's false basement cover. Is this possible and where does one get such a caddy?

Any ideas ?? the Phanteks case is 235mm wide and has a max cooler height of 198mm - so
I assume thats the free space distance on the motherboard side.

Alternatively I could just get a USB portable external blu ray drive and ditch this one? Prefer not to do that, as I hate straggly external drives - and it might be nice to see a blu ray on the new 4K monitor.

I have no intention of watching blurays regularly on this, As I have a great blu ray hooked into the tv.

Any ideas or help much appreciated.

I'm not familiar with those particular cases..... BUT I would imagine that a case that does not have bays for optical drives were MEANT for people who don't want to install them. If you DO want or need an optical then you should look for a case that properly supports installing them.

An alternative would be to either buy an external drive... OR... if you already have the optical drive... and a 5.25" Enclosure with a USB 3.0 connection that you could plug into your computer when you need it...

Thanks, I am totally happy with the case, as over time all my software will be on USB sticks. Just need this drive working to load the OS and say relaod if I have a problem.

I particularly like the case as it has 2x 3.5" hot swop trays for future long term 4TB spinners to archive stuff, and all the rest are 2.5".
All my "working" HDs are now SSDs either 400GB x2 intel PCIe 750s and interim backups to two 1TB Samsung Evos 850s.

I was wary of external DVD usb readers, as ai had 2 problems when I converted the laptop to SSD, and thought I would take the WD 500GB 7,200 rpm spinner and put it in one of those USB caddies. Both caused probles including blue screens when ever I pludded in the additional usb power cable.!!

Yes just putting it on the floor is doable , or maybe just stick it onto the floor of the PSU cage with double sided tape lol

Imcan buy 3.5" accessory trays that can also have converter trays to 2.5 " inserted into them that clip elegantly into the back wall.

I just thought it would be great if they made ones for 5.25" and then I could just screw that to the case and then mount this blu ray in one.

There seem to me millions of 5.25 trays to 3.5 or 3.5 to 2.5 converters but no straight 5.25" trays.

Do you already have a working PC, with a DVD on it???

If you are not planning on using Bluray discs, then this software will convert any *software* Disc into an iso , and then put that iso onto a *bootable* USB... and it will be MUCH faster on USB!! :)

www.imgburn.com - to convert disc to ISO

https://rufus.akeo.ie/ to convert an ISO to a bootable USB... :)

Thanks I got a stainless steel case for the Blu Ray read/writer and just connected this apioneer tomone sata power and one sata data cable ... Works brilliantly
Thanks I use Rufus for creating a bootable bios update and the link for vurning the image off a cd is useful.
As USB is the way to go.
Although my blu ray worls perfectly it mean opening the case door ( thankfully on a hinge) and connecting cable. So the more that just loads off a usb the easier
