-Hello! I'm currently trying to decide whether to buy an...

Intel Core i5 4690K,

or an

Intel Core i7 4790K.

-My current PC specs are:

CPU: AMD Athlon X4 760K (Completely Unsatisfied)
GPU: Radeon R9 270X
RAM: 8GB DDR3
MB: Doesn't Really Matter
PSU: CS650M Corsair Modular
HDD: Doesn't Really Matter

-Alright there's a basic rundown of my PC specs. Now, activities I'd like to be able to do with this CPU include streaming games in 720P at 40-60 FPS without extremely bogging down my PC. I've been told that with the i5, I won't be able to achieve that. Is this true?

Also, I'm slightly on a budget, but if I have to go with the i7 I will. The i5 is ideal for my price range.

Thanks!

I would personally go with the fx-8350 (I have it) its a great processor and it has 8 cores and that in itself provides a lot of benefits to streaming. So consider it as an option.

i7 have an advantage of hyper threading, that would only help when your system is running multiple less resources consuming applications. i5 is pretty much capable of handling the high end workload as of i7. As far as your budget is concerned, you should opt for i5, it'll pretty much get the job done. :)

If you want to find out about the variants of i5 check out this link below, it explains the five variants and their differences.
