old thread : Cannot Install windows 8 on my new computer. (GPT partition style error)
Comp specs :
I have a Asus p8z77 V pro mobo n core i7 3770k. 2tb segate HDD
I have 3 partitions in the HDD. 2 of which contain impt files. I just build this system and wanted to install files in it. I also have a back system to which this HDD was connected previously. The third partition is 100gb in which i wanted to install windows 8. The problem is I cannot select any of the partitions to install windows 8 in it. I have deleted the 100gb partition and reformated it several times in the installation wizard this doesnt work . I get GPT partition style error. I searched the net for a solution.
Only 3 solutions are given :
1.Reformat the partition to NTFS using Gparted. (haven't tried but i have formated n partitioned it in win 7system)
2.convert MBR (tried this cannot convert)
3. Disable UEFI. How to disable UEFI ? I am completely new to UEFI.
4. Reformat the entire HDD. i cannot do this as i have impt files in the drive.
Please help me install it windows 8 successfully in my new build.

need help fast please !!
My stupid friend formatted the whole drive and installed windows 8 in it. is there any way to recover the files in it ??
Also he created two partitions. I am guessing he delete all partitions and installed win 8 in one and created other one

There were three partitions in the begining two contained impt files. now he has created oly 2. Is there anyway to recover the files. atleast the directory listing would help a lot.

I have windows 8 now. Didnt expect this to happen.
Gparted dint work too. And there was no windows installed on that HDD before. If someone knw any solution for the previous problem please post so it might be useful for others.

i have been googlin this for the past hour n reading about different stuff. currently runnin recuva and stellar phoenix hope i get atleast the directory listin of both the drives.

EDIT : Recuva works really great and has a great UI !!

Ya i have been recovering files but most of them are corrupted. Stellar Phoenix says tat the file is healthy but after recovering it the files dont open at all.
