Hey, my Geforce 9800 gt has been overheating recently leading to loss in hdmi signal. overheats when i play counterstrike global offensive and i need some suggestions for a upgraded GPU. budget is anything under 250$.

processor: intel core 2 quad cpu Q9300 @ 2.50 Ghz
power supply: total of 630 W.
motherboard: gigabyte ga-ep45-ud3p : Supports 45nm Intel® Core 2™ multi-core processors with FSB 1600 MHz
-2 PCI-E 2.0 x16 graphic interface with CrossFireX support for ultimate graphics performance
-Natively support to dual channel DDR2 1366+* for remarkable system performance

Solution
there are a few questions that need to be asked
first what resolusion do you game at? and what settings/fps do you want?
2nd what is your power supply's EXACT model like all the stuff it says on the side

as for proformance a gtx 750 ti will be bottlenecked now a system, bottleneck is basically simply when a component is too weak to support faster one in this case the cpu is too slow for the gpu. for you a 750 ti or gtx 950 is the best upgrade being about 2.5 times faster for the 750 ti and ~3 times faster for the 950 a 960 is a good option all so but there are a few draw backs first it uses more power so your power supply may not be enough and 2nd the cpu will bottleneck it. now two other options are amd's r7 360 and r7 370 which...

The 750 Ti doesnt overheat as much and will be able to run CSGO? what does bottlenecked mean and will the 750 ti be bottlenecked?

In what ways is the 750 TI upgraded compared to the 9800 gt ? and how can the geforce 750 gtx work as well or not ?

is the gtx 750 ti better than the gtx 750? the gt 9800 i have now runs on ddr3, will the GDDR5 the 750 ti be compatible? thanks

Solution

so overall the 750 ti and gtx 950 will be bottlenecked?which one of the two will work best in your opinion, im sticking to nvidia. i game usually at 1600x900. i cant tell waht my psu says but 650 w total.
