Hi guys,
I'm kinda new to building PC but I wanna try and I wanna change my CPU, and probably my chipset.

Current build:
-CPU: FX-6300 (3.50 GHz), 64 bit 6-Core Processor
-Motherboard: AMD 760G + SB710

I'm gaming a lot and my cpu and motherboard are really a big step backward for gaming right now. I have a 1060 card but it makes the job done and I'm happy with it. I can't even run PUBG properly..

I wanna know what you guys think I should change for ? only cpu ? or cpu+chipset ?
Should I go for Intel ? because I'm probably gonna have to change both of my cpu and chipset.
I don't wanna pay more than 400-450US maximum for both. Ideally I would switch for a Ryzen 7, but I doubt it support my DDR3 (8 GB DDR3) or even my motherboard - which is damn old haha.

thanks for your feedback!
btw I'm from canada so I pay around x1.25$ on every products in USD

Your budget will be good for CPU/MB/RAM combo, FX is dead, don't spend on that anymore.

Better for the long run :) GTX 1080+ can be paired later, too.
The only sensible upgrade is total change: CPU, mobo and RAM. Does not really matter if AMD or Intel, to uses any new CPU you have to swap RAM to DDR4.
Ryzen 1600 + B350 mobo + 2x4 GB DDR4 RAM should be within your budget.
Or for Intel build, i5-7500 + B250 mobo +2x4 GB DDR4 RAM, but that would be weaker build. In two days 8th gen Intel CPU will show up though, you may be able to get better Intel build within your budget, but we don't have any reviews yet.

You'd have to spend quite a bit more than your proposed budget for a coffee lake i7 as the i7 8700 non k is going to be $303 US($378 Canadian), 8700k will be $359($448 Canadian). Plus you'll still need a motherboard and ram which will definitely take it above 450 US. The

So can be Intel. The only difference is, for Intel you have to watch motherboard socket more (as it has pins that can be bent), for AMD you have to watch CPU. As long as you take care what you do, the difficulty level is same.
