Question Needing a laptop for video and photo editing

Hi im asking on behalf of a friend his looking to buy a laptop he wants to get into video editing and photo editing his new to this so he really doesnt know what to get he said it dont have to be a top of range just somthing that can do the basic video editing he dont mind buying a used laptop his from uk said he doesnt mind spending upto £500 not sure if thats enough for a budget laptop to do video,photo editing.

Please add the apps your friend wishes to tax the laptop with though I think you will need to up your budget to a £1000 depending on the apps your friend will will work with/on since they tend to demand resources from your laptop.
