I have a 2nd hand sony vaio windows vista and I need the above but cannot install it. it fails every time

Any error messages when installation fails? If yes, provide the exact wording.

Thank you. at the moment I am making space as I saw that can be a handicap (défragmentation) so I cannot give you the exact wording but I know it's error 57. Can I try installing the two updates .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 and update for the range ?NET Framework 3.5X86 (KB951847) that refuse to be uploaded? while defragmentation is in process?

No, you mustn't use the PC for anything else while it's defragmenting the hard drive.
I don't know what you mean by "update for the range",

Your first post only referred to one software download (.NET Framework 3.5 SP1), now you're referring to two ???

finally my sister helped with fixdotnet201508.... then I was able to put in the .Net Framework 3.5 SP1 and extension (I think). The Bitdefender finally could be set up and I then had 178 Windows updates followed by another 51. I cannot remember the exact name of the second only it seemed almost the same as the above named, the two were together. I am a beginner and not very good with computers but I'm trying ......
