Question NETGEAR A6100 Adapter won't connect to 5ghz Wifi

I'm using a netgear a6100 dual band wireless adapter since my quelcom atheros internal wic doesnt support 5ghz.. everytime i connect its doing it at 2.4.. can't figure out how to force it to 5ghz

Your wireless router must also support 5GHz (ie must be an AC dual-band model) --- is it?

It is.. i got it working after calling netgear. You have to use the netgear genie to connect, the standard windows wifi connector doesnt show both signals(put off by the xfinity modem) genie is needed to choose 2.4 or 5ghz.
