Netgear AC1200 Wirelss Adapter intermittently drops out on large downloads

It's been awhile since I've posted on this forum and have come back with another problem.

Whenever downloading anything large, I.E. games from Steam and Battle.net, the download will start at 10 mb/s, my normal download speed, and proceed to drop slower and slower, until I'm downloading at 1 byte/s. I've tried everything...

• 
  Uninstalling/Reinstalling Netgear's drivers
  Restarting PC
  Turning off the computer's ability to automatically shut off the adapter
  Restarted router
  Changed USB ports
  And yes, unplugging and plugging it back in (many, many times)

It's strange because I'm able to browse the web just fine and stream HD video on YouTube, Twitch, and Netflix.

Any help would be incredibly greatly appreciated
