I just got the new router, netgear nighthawk r6700v2. i had problems when i initially set it up and was on phone with netgear support for an hour before i finally got internet through. I have had it for about a week and 1-2 times a day internet wont come through the router. When this happens i have to power cycle the modem and router before it will come back through. there is no problem with the modem because when this happens i can hook the ethernet cable from the modem straight to the PC and internet works fine. A factory reset of the router was done during the initial setup and the most recent firmware has been installed and reinstalled. I have tried selecting different MAC address option through the router like i did during initial setup and still the only thing that brings internet back through router when it stops is by power cycling the modem and router. its a simple fix but annoying to have to do it.

Solution
I got through three Netgear router's 4 years ago, they all started playing up after only a few months. Completely alienated me to that brand (along with a few other brands just as bad).

I decided to go upmarket and bought a Billion router which cost twice as much as most consumer models, it fastens vertically to the wall for more efficient cooling (one of the main reasons consumer models fail is they overheat) and it's been totally reliable.

I reckon it's the router that's faulty, Netgear don't make 'em like they used to - - quality & reliability have suffered.
