Netgear Nighthawk x4 r7500v2 Problems

I recently bought a brand new Nighthawk x4 r7500v2. It is currently running the netgear software V1.0.2.2. Whenever I try and do something on my Nexus 5 the wifi cuts out. It has been getting really out of hand. I know the problem is not with my phone because our old router never did this. Wired computers and consoles work perfectly fine. This was happening right out of the box. I have tried using 5 ghz rather than the 2.4 ghz band but that doesn't change the results. I have been doing some research and found that netgear is a hassle to deal with but if it comes down to having to do that I will.
 
I contacted technical support and told them my problem. It wasn't as much of a hassle as I heard it was. They just told me to reset my router and mess with the radio bands that the router was using. I set it to 6 and it was fine after that. The lady told me that having it on auto can decrease performance. I also tried channel 11 and 1. 1 worked great with no disconnections.
