Netgear Router Setup Help (N900)

I just got a new Netgear Router (N900) and am attempting to set it up in my apartment and have run into a few problems. First of all I am doing this in my college apartment and I'm not sure of the ISP- it's whatever the complex has. I do however have to log in and register devices through myelauwit.com. This hasn't posed any problems for me thus far until now. I have plugged the cables in correctly and triple checked them but when I try to log into the router via routerlogin.com it ask's if I want to set this as an access point or function on it's own. It doesn't ask me to log in with a username and password. Initially I chose to set it up on it's own and then I get a message saying no connection detected and reverts me to set up as an access point. Now my problem with that is after I log in to the router and set up the access point I either have no connection or limited availability. When I try to register it with elauwit, nothing happens. I have never had any problems setting up a router elsewhere, only in this apartment. Does anyone have any experience with elauwit or have any insight in network connections that may help out? Plug your computer directly into the port provided, and confirm that it has internet access.

Your router should be configured as an Access Point. You will need to go into the settings to do that.
