OK, for the ones of you that keep saying it has to be some sort of interference, let me run this problem by you. I have a Netgear WNR2000 which I got from a friend. He had 1 PC connected through this router by LAN, 1 laptop on WiFi, and 1 PS3 also on WiFi. He lives 15 miles from anyone, so no one around could be stealing his WiFi. This router however, has the same problem at his house and mine which has a lot more devices. The LAN works fine on the router, but when anything gets connected to its WiFi the speeds drop from 54mbps to 2mbps. After reading some articles online, I was able to increase WiFi speeds to 5.5mbps by, and get this, DOWNGRADING the firmware!!! This router makes no sense. No device in his house could be causing the problem, I know. As for my house, everything is protected by the highest encryption methods I could mustar. Unless someone can explain this, (cause NETGEAR can`t) I`m sticking with the thought that Netgear just flat out sucks, because my belkin has no problems at either house.

Honestly, I have read a little about them, but was afraid of using them because of all the cons vs pros against them. I will give them a try though if you really think it will help. I`m not at home for a few weeks so it will be a while, but I will report back when I have tried. On a different subject, I want to thank you for being so patient. After re-reading what I had wrote earlier, I realized I was coming off as a douch, and I apologize for that. That is not what I intended, so again, thank you.

Ok, the verdict to your answer is this cannot be done for me. At least from the many different websites I`ve been to. You see I have the WNR2000v1 model. It doesn`t have any support on any of the forums for a 3rd party software. Is there somewhere I`m not looking? Something I`m missing? Sorry, very new to this router.

ok, so other than that, any reason you can think of as to why the router is completely bottle-necking when it comes to wireless? The LAN seems to work fine, but the most I can get out of the wireless is 5.5mbps, when my Belkin gets 54MBPS. Also, don`t know if it matters or not, but those speeds are based solely off of what the laptops in my house display when you hover the mouse over the wireless icon, as well as in the properties menu of the router.

This kind of problem usually comes in the netgear router because they have bad internet connection or their router is not connected to the internet modem properly. so if you are also having such kind of problem with your router. please make sure your router is properly connected to the internet and you have a good internet connection or not. if everything is fine but your router is still not working. then you need to go ahead and reset your router. for more information you can visit on: http://techssupport247.com/Netgear-router-is-not-working.html and follow the instructions. hope this will help you better.
