Hello my supporter.
hope you are all doing good. I'm stuck with the CCTV network bandwidth calculations, what I know is the important 3 factors in doing the calculations are the resolution and the frames per second and the number of cameras we're gonna to use. but to know the total bandwidth I have to know the frame size first which is resolution * color depth.
the confused thing is in some calculators are asking for the steaming type ( h.264 or MPEG-4 .. ) is it make any different ? and I tried to find the color depth in the data sheet but I couldn't.
and if i'm going to use 2 streams in one camera it will be affect on the bandwidth ?

Solution

And the camera manual will tell you what physical resolution and frame rate it uses - unlikely to be full HD - and what codec it uses. With that data you can estimate the data rate. Because the compression efficiency is related to the number of different pixel per picture and the change rate from frame to frame, this will alway be an estimation...
Sorry. This is not an anwer... But, the streaming type and data format also affect the results of calculation. For example: if you are streaming an .avi video it would take longer than mp4. Because mp4 is compressed more in size. Etc. I am sure streaming type would affect. (Well, this counts as half answer...)

and how to know how much the streaming type will affect on my bandwidth because I'm working with numbers not estimations, I'm not going to use the calculators on the internet so I have to know the really calculations behind that.

Black_Plague how to know the data format if it is AVI or MP4 , I have a specific camera and i'm going to use 1080 resolution ?

where to know the frame size ??

Dig deeper, if you need all the details. It will take month to understand it.

why some CCTV bandwidth calculators doesn't ask for the frame size input!! as I know what you mentioned is not enough to know the data rate, the frame size also important to give me the data rate and I'm searching to know the color depth for the camera to have the frame size, this is my issue and I will ask the camera supplier for it.
but, I read that the frame size depend on the resolution and compression. in other place depend on the resolution and the color depth :|.

for compression stream, how much it will be affect on the AVI stream when using one of the above compression is there some specific calculation for that or it's also depend. and for the data format the CCTV bandwidth calculators doesn't ask for it!

thank you noidea_77 for your benefit information.

Black_Plague's No it's an answer and thank you for your information it's helped me I didn't know about the impact of the data format on the compression.

Alabalcho's thank you for your suggestion I will contact them when I understand the concepts to ask them clearly.
