I have an older desktop and laptop with both running Windows 10. With Windows 10 losing support later this year, I have been thinking about switching both of these computers to Linux. I have experimented a bit with Linux on my laptop a while back. It seems to meet my needs, but one difficulty I had was with networking the Linux laptop with my Windows desktop. I network over WIFI, but I imagine the difficulty would be the same over Ethernet. I never could get it to work so that I could access files from one computer on the other. I have written this difficulty off due to having two different OS's, so I abandoned Linux for the time being. I assume networking these two computers will be less of a problem if both computers are running Linux, right? Actually, I am not only hoping that it will be less of a problem, but that it will be quite easy to implement.

No IP address connection at all. Not really concerned about that at this point because one computer was on Linux and the other on Windows. My long term vision is to have both computers on Linux. My concern now is about networking these two computers after they both have Linux installed on them. How easy or difficult is that to accomplish?
