networking xbox

Can any one help I'm trying to network to my xbox using a cross over cable
but my computer can't see my xbox

my computer is on
Ip address 192.168.1.1
Subnet Mask 255.255.255.0

and my xbox is on
Ip address 192.168.1.200
Subnet Mask 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway 192.168.1.1

Have you tried turning off windows firewall and any other firewall programs on your computer (i have yet to try this myself but i heard a rumor that firewalls can be a problem)

Windows Firewall in XP SP2 is not the issue. It should be left on.
However, if there are other programs in use like ZoneAlarm or certain
Symantec (Norton) combo products, they could be the source of the issue.
