Let me guess - usually for checking on updates, but in my days before Linux I bought a piece of software that turned out to use internet connection to check for valid license AND that the user is prevented to use the software on more than one computer. That was some sort of defragmenting software not remember its name right now.But what is it actually doing with that?

Please start a NEW thread.UPDATE Inpaint! When it came out, it was a lifetime license for $10 bucks. Then it went to $19 and became a yearly license and they disabled the "Lifetime License." Now it is at $29 and yearly increases. Would not bother me, but it does as it was "LIFETIME!"
What else does as good a job for us simple people?
