New AMD Driver capped me at 30hz

Hey Tom's Hardware,

I've been using a 4K tv as my monitor recently, working fine with my R9 295X2 and a miniDP to HDMI 3.0 active adapter in order to achieve 60hz in 3840x2160.

Yesterday I updated to the latest AMD drivers, and when I restarted, my framerate appears to be capped at 30fps now. In control panel, 1920x1080 now has the "(recommended)" instead of 3840x2160. Also, in display adapter properties, the highest setting is now 30fps.

Any ideas, or has this happened to anyone else?

Thanks,
Alex

I've got the same issue. I just installed the latest ATI drivers (16.11.4.) and the settings went back to the annoying 30 Hz in 4K from the previous 60 Hz. When I bought this 4K TV I spent days to make it run in 60 Hz by reading solutions and finally purchasing an active adapter and a proper HDMI cable and didn't have any issue like this until today. So I'm pretty sure it's the driver since nothing else has been changed.

I'm currently using (just to test) HDMI straight out of the motherboard. I can display 3840x2160 but still only at 30fps.
My CPU is a 6700k, if that matters.

I had to do a lot of fiddling with the TV when I first tried this setup and was locked at 30fps back then. The problem ended up being that I needed an active adapter to HDMI 3.0 instead of older versions.

TV is set to GAME and I'm using one of the two HDMI ports that accepts 4k at 60fps. I don't suspect that it's the TV causing problems. Nothing has changed in the TV's regard since it was working.

I don't believe there are any sort of settings like that. It's just HDMI 1, 2, 3, or 4.
3 and 4 accept 4k at 60fps.
