Hello. I am planning to buy a new gaming rig, and i've heard rumors about the coming AMD Zen-based CPU's. Should i wait for them, or upgrade now to Skylake? I don't know if there will be better performance per dollar in Zen...

Unfortunately no way to know until zen is released, tested and proven and we see prices. Performance per dollar is pretty well distributed among cpus regardless of brand. Aside from the skylake i7's which are selling over suggested retail since there's great demand and low supply. That's a bit abnormal compared to previous cpu releases though.

Chances are zen won't show up for a good 6-8mo yet though so it depends on your current build and needs.

I am an AMD fan, no doubt. Mostly because I like open, generally moral companies.

However, if you have the money today, there's no reason to wait for Zen. The 6700k's performance will likely remain out of reach for AMD's Zen unless they achieve more than they are claiming they will... which is HIGHLY unlikely.

So, the choice is simple.
