Question Which Intel CPU matches the AMD Threadripper 2970 WD ?

Out of curiosity, why are you trying to compare that particular HEDT processor from AMD? Given that the 2970WX is a couple of generations old(released in 2018), you can get the same performance on concurrent generation of mainstream high end processors.

What sort of task are you looking to tax the processor?

There were plenty of 24-core Xeons on DDR4, though none only had quad-channel memory like Threadripper--they were either 6-channel or 8-channel. So for scientific applications where memory bandwidth is limiting, the Xeons could be faster.

I suppose a recent HEDT i9 on dual-channel DDR5 could be similar, although most of the 24 cores would be E-cores.

I'm looking to start upscaling some dvd titles to 1080p for my viewing pleasure. I was going off this video on youtube where the user said his strongest pc had that cpu to process (around the 12:00 minute mark). I believe you answered my previous question about which gpu I would need for my current cpu (i5-12400) to get gpu acceleration.
