MB in labels is 1,000,000 Bytes but the computer does not read the capacity the same way, plus formatting also loses a bit of space vs what the package states. You'd lose about 7% and up in space from what the drive package states to what your computer shows. The larger the drive, the more % of the space you lose. For a 1 TB drive, you are actually only getting a bit over 900GB in what the computer shows.
