Hi,
I recently bought GTX 690 for 75 US dollars and would like to build some budget PC. I used to have AMD few years back and came across multiple issues but nowadays AMD seems like a good choice but I am still a bit skeptic about them. I want to play CS:GO and other than that I work with Adobe software but this is mostly GPU demanding that is why the GTX 690.

Now, would be the i3 9100F enough or it is better to buy the Ryzen 5 1600 or is it much better to grab the i3 10100?
If I would choose the Ryzen 5 1600, do I need to grab high speed RAM sticks, which would be more expensive?

Solution
The 1600af is nigh impossible to find at its suggested price point, you would more likely look toward the recent 3100 or 3300x. Its not that a 9100 would bottleneck, but 4 cores is really a big limiting factor nowadays. Its probably fine since the 690 would be comparable to a rx580 or gtx 1060, if sli works(idk if sli is even supported anymore).

You may have shot yourself in the foot with that gtx 690 purchase, such a dated and thirsty(300w) gpu will require a decent psu, the system drawing 450+ watts just on the 12v rail, a decent 650w psu will likely throw away any cost savings you had intended with a 9100f or r3 3100.

With a weak gpu the ram speed fps hit isn't nearly as noticeable, but ram is quite inexpensive atm and 2666 is the...

The ryzen chip would be better in the long run but yeah it's recommended to get high speed rams for it to benefit off of. Make sure to get the 1600 AF but even old 1600 outperforms the i3 just not as much as the af. The improvements from 2400mhz to 3000mhz is greater than from 3000mhz to 3200mhz. So if you're in tight budget, 3000mhz ram will be fine.
