Hi folks!

So I've been wanting to make my own gaming computer for a while, and I thought I'd run my plans past some seasoned professionals/people who know more than me to see if what I've got in mind looks good. Having seen the detailed formatting thread for build advice, I've answered the questions best I can below. The main thing I am looking for is a hardy gaming computer that will play all the top titles I've ogled for a while now (Far Cry 5, Witcher 3, Fallout 4, Just Cause 3) and, in light of all the E3 trailerage, be able to handle some of the wicked games coming soon (Cyberpunk 2077, oh baby!)

Approximate Purchase Date: e.g.: This year

Budget Range: Less than $1500 CAD, after rebates, after shipping.

System Usage from Most to Least Important: Gaming

Are you buying a monitor: Yes / No: I currently have an HP 25es, which I don't think will make full use of the hardware I want, but I'm focussing on the computer first, and may upgrade my monitor next year.

Parts to [Buy]: CPU, mobo, GPU, Cooling, OS (Windows 10), PSU

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: newegg.ca, memoryexpress.com

Location: City, State/Region, Country - Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada

Parts Preferences: Intel core, LGA 1151 or 1155 for mobo (there seem to be more options available for those pin numbers...?)

Overclocking: Maybe. I would say Yes, but I don't know the first thing about overclocking my system.

SLI or Crossfire: SLI

Your Monitor Resolution: 1920x1080

Additional Comments: It doesn't need to run everything at Ultra Hi-Def, but I would like to be able to play most of the more visually demanding titles at high-quality.

TL;DR I want to build a reasonable gaming PC for $1500 CAD or less that can play all the new games at High quality. Below are the parts I need your help vetting, if you don't mind.

Case: Rosewill Challenger ATX Mid Tower (I already have this)

MOBO: MSI Z270 SLI PLUS LGA 1151 Intel Z270 ($189.99)
MSi Z270

Processor: Intel Core i7-7700K Kaby Lake Quad-Core 4.2 GHz LGA 1151 ($427.99)
i7-7700k

CPU Cooler: Deepcool Gammaxx 400 Slim-Tower CPU Cooler
Deepcool Gammaxx

GPU: EVGA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti GAMING, 4GB GDDR5, DX12 OSD Support (PXOC) (04G-P4-6251-KR)
GTX 1050 Ti

PSU: Corsair CX 450 ($50-$60)
COrsair CX 450

RAM: 8GB (probably just use what I've got in my current machine)

I've tried to be as specific as possible, but sorry if this was way too long of a post (it feels way too long). If there are things you think I ought to consider, or different parts you'd suggest, I'm all ears! Thanks kindly.

Mike

Solution
Change
  • cpu to i5-8600 (i5-8600k for OC);
motherboard to B360 (Z370 for OC),
GPU to GTX 1060 or GTX 1070.
There is no reason to consider 7700k for new pc. Choose either i5-8600(k) or i7-8700(k).
Check prices and decide, if it's worth to have OC option.

Thanks very much for the response, I didn't know that about the 1050. As for the SLI, you mean I shouldn't go with one/could find a cheaper mobo?
