Agree on the CPU front mate, not sure on the price difference but upping to the unlocked 8700K on those specs leaves room to improve later even if you do't want to overclock now. If it's not too much more expensive i'd grab the K

Overclocking is not overly complex to learn the basics of but the 8700K is actually faster out of the box aswell.

I7-8700 out of the box runs at 3.2 - 4.6 Ghz
I7-8700K out of the box runs at 3.6 - 4.7 Ghz and is overclockable

Just food for thought although the Intel 14nm procesors are extremely expensive at the moment.... (Or if money isnt an issue get an 8086K which is the pick of the litter of the 8700K processors)

EDIT: I had to add, you have really gone low end on the monitor mate. 2560x1440p at 60Hz...

Was considering the Seasonic Focus Plus Platinum 750W Power Supply

Apart from them all being compatible, are there alternatives that would be better bang for my buck?

What is the purpose (gaming, productivity)?

Why a locked cpu with a board made for overclocking?

Except for some specific cases, that 970 pro is more expensive but not perceivably faster than even an 860 evo.

Why a liquid cooler for a locked cpu? A good $50 air cooler is more than enough and more reliable.

Gaming primarily

I chose a locked CPU vs the unlocked one as I do not normally overclock

I chose an NVME drive over a SATA III drive as I looked at reviews regarding NVME drives and they didn't seem to have the speed bottlenecks that came with SATAIII drives.

I had used water-cooling on all my previous builds, every time I had used an air cooler, they had not performed as well as what a water-cooling one did.

Just noticed you selected 2 of them, with Ultra Widescreens the way they are today mate yu are better off spending the money on a nice single ultrawidescreen than 2 x small shitty monitors bud. Just trying to help. If you want to shed more light i can help more. Example of an Ultrawide is the AW3418DW in my sig FYI (3440x1440p @ 120Hz)

I wanted to upgrade from 1080p to 1440p as ive been led to believe its more favourable for gaming. I have always used 2 displays on my computer but was not sure which way to go, I like the idea of having 2 of the same size screens, but would be open to suggestion on choosing a larger display screen (say 27") that is a better pick then what I have chosen, and then keeping one of my 1080 displays as my secondary screen that I use for anything not gaming.

If that makes sense?

If I was looking at 4k? Maybe Acer XB281HK UHD G-Sync 28in Gaming Monitor? Maybe using one of my other 1080P monitors as a secondary?

I would consider a Ryzen 7 2700x with a B450 board. The stock cooler is sufficient for stock clocks, better multi-threaded support, and cheaper. At 1440p, and 4k, the gaming differences will be quite minor. If you want an Nvme drive, go with the 970 evo. For games, an 860 evo is plenty. Games really don't take advantage of Nvme speeds, for whatever reason. What is your system buget?

My system I was planning around 3000-4000 AUD however the GPU was far more expensive then I thought, several of the retailers I look at have taken out the 1080ti completely and left with the 2080 and the 2080ti, Id love the 2080ti but its an extra 800 bucks and the price on the 2080 is already around the 1299 mark.

If you join Shopback and buy the I7-8700K from Amazon it will cost you about $30 more than the 8700 from Mighty Ape

https://www.amazon.com.au/Intel-i7-8700K-Processor-Unlocked-BX80684i78700K/dp/B07598VZR8

Didnt realise you already had one of the monitors mate but i would definately look at a 4K for your second screen if your getting a 2080. The Predator you selected is a good monitor, as long as you do not wish to connect a console to it mate as the HDMI port is 1.4. For 4K @ 60Hz you have to use the DisplayPort on the monitor, thats the only downside with this monitor bud but a good choice and will get the best out of your GTX2080. If you do buy from Amazxon as i mentioned above join Shopback, add the Chrome extension, activate it when you purchase and you get 6% off everything from Amazon, diff discounts from other online retailers.

Well I have 2 1080p monitors at the moment, was going to get 2 1440p but the monitors I chose, they were the low end of the scale and not very good?

@Jay.Wooster suggested 1 bigger better monitor then the 2 crappy monitors, I was considering keeping one of my 1080p's and getting a really good 1440p or 4k, I heard 1440p is better for gaming but wanted advice on if I should go 4k or not

2 x 1080p / 60Hz monitors seems like a significant waste of the money you spent on the RTX2080 mate. I would either get an Ultrawide 1440p (3440 x 1440p) monitor at 100/120Hz or a 4K 60Hz monitor to make use of the top end card you have mate. Anything less than that and your monitor will be limiting the capabilities of your GPU & CPU.

Its your decision at the end of the day and if you don't mind the bezels in the middle of your gamescreen then go for it but personally it drives me nuts (and you definately want better monitors than the original selection) !!!

Sorry I think there might be a misunderstanding here.

I currently have 2 x 1080p monitors on my current build, I was not going to buy new 1080p monitors.

I am leaning towards the 100/120Hz Ultrawide 1440p rather then the 4k

Gotcha, sorry mate, didnt realise you already had the monitors. If your happy to spend on new monitors then i can recommend either an 1 x Ultrawide 1440p 120Hz Monitor or a 4K 60Hz monitor with that card mate, but make sure you get a monitor(s) with G-Sync to take advantage of your card. I have exactly that ASUS 2080 card and an 8700K on a 3440 x 1440p monitor at 120Hz and i play everything at completely max settings without issue (CPU OC's to 4.9).
