Solution
at 1440p/60Hz the CPU is overkill. and the cooler borderline weak for it. since the limiting factor will be core count there are better options out there imho. Intel just isn't a particularly good buy atm apart from some special scenarios.

the 2070 Super is 2-4 fps slower than a 2080 but costs less.
a 3700X offers additional cores while maintaining the same performance @1440p and beyond. plus the board supports PCIe4.0 once the time comes. Given you've used your past rig for 8 years, I guess this one will be a long term rig as well?

so you save 100$ for the same current performance and the potential that it will age better. and you're not going for a CPU that has already been superseeded + Ryzen has an auto-OC feature that's arguably...

Solution
Thank you very much for your input. Yes this will also be a long-term thing!

I've heard of people having problems with AMD cpus so I was generally avoiding it based on that but will admit that I am a bit ignorant. I also decided to spent a little more of the CPU since I do do some CPU intensive things. Are my concerns uwarrented?

Thanks again! PS do you have any monitor suggestions?

I'd like to point out that I specified Canada and you put it in US. Some of these parts (the cpu cooler) is not available in canada
