Hello guys,
After almost 10 years it is time for a new gaming-setup. I built my first one with some help from you guys https://forums.tomshardware.com/threads/gaming-pc-build.2276434/
The pc still works fine. I had to do small upgrades to keep it going. It's just that some games are not working smoothly and some programs are making trouble at times (e.g. Microsoft Excel, Word, Firefox, etc.). So I think it's time for a new one. Since you gave me such good advice last time, I'm reaching out to you and want to know what you think about my suggestion and where you see better options. I'm glad about any helpful suggestions and comments.
Approximate Purchase Date: April 2025
Budget Range: 1400-1800 USD (CHF = Swiss Francs)
System Usage from Most to Least Important: Working, Gaming, Watching movies, etc. (allrounder)
Are you buying a monitor: Yes: 2x HP Omen 24 (I like a dual monitor setup) - suggestions about a different monitor are also welcome!
Reusing: 1x Samsung 990 Pro (2TB, M.2 2280) and an optical drive
Do you need to buy OS: No
Preferred Website(s) for Parts: www.digitec.ch
Location: Switzerland
Parts Preferences: Not really - preferrably some parts from the same brands and not a complete mix.
Overclocking: Probably not
Multiple GPUs: Probably not
Your Monitor Resolution: 1920x1080
Additional Comments: I would like a quiet PC and something durable (preferrably something which runs for another 10 years)
CPU: Intel Core i7-14700K, LGA 1700, 3.40 GHz, 20 -Core
GPU: ASUS Dual Radeon RX 7700 XT OC Edition 12 GB
Mainboard: AsRock B760 PRO RS/D4 WIFI, LGA 1700, Intel B760, ATX
RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX 2 x 32GB, 3600 MHz, DDR4-RAM, DIMM

-------------------------After reviewing your advice---------------------------------------
This is what I'm aiming for now:
https://de.pcpartpicker.com/list/FpdLfd
I changed the RAM due to availability. Also I think I prefer the MSI Motherboard due to internal and external connections (PCI-E 5th Gen, 2x USB-C on the backside, etc.)
Thank you all for your input and help!
-------------------------After reviewing a second time------------------------------------
After some additional research over the weekend. This is what I'm finally aiming for:
https://de.pcpartpicker.com/list/TzTJRV
It says that I'm paying 1930 dollars on partpicker, but on digitec I'm still below 1900 Fr due to some good deals
There are 3 changes to the previous list:
- I changed the RAM for some better performing which are still in the budget.
- I looked for some alternatives for the Motherboard and found the MSI MAG B850 Tomahawk Max WIFI
https://www.digitec.ch/en/s1/produc...x-wifi-am5-amd-b850-atx-motherboards-53472974
but I don't think it is worth the 50 bucks extra. What do you guys think?
- Last but not least, I'm still torn between a widescreen and two seperate monitors. You see that I chose the two monitors for my list. The alternative would be this one: Dell S3422DWG
https://www.digitec.ch/en/s1/product/dell-s3422dwg-3440-x-1440-pixels-34-monitor-16593681
But I honestly don't see much of an upside for a widescreen. Often, I work on two documents simultaneously or I play TFT and work or watch something on the second screen. All of these tasks are very intuitive with a second screen, but with a widescreen I have to divide the screen manually and also run the risk of it not working with my older titles. Additionally, I heard that widescreens are much more susceptible to making trouble in the long run.
Can you guys convince me for one or the other?
Thank you all for help. I'm looking forward to buy and build my pc soon!
