New Build - AMD Ryzen 5 2600 on ASUS ROG STRIX X470-F - Will Not Boot / Hangs at White QLED (VGA)

I have assembled a new system with the following components, which hangs at the White QLED (VGA) each time.

=================
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 2600(3.4GHz,6C,L3:16M,65W,B2) Socket AM4
Motherboard: ASUS ROG STRIX X470-F
Heatsink: Corsair H100i V2
RAM: Crucial Ballistix Sport LT 8GB Dual DDR4 2666
RAM Slot(s): A2
Power: Corsair RMX 850 Fully Modular PSU
=================

I have run through the guide at http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/261145-31-perform-steps-posting-post-boot-video-problems prior to posting this.

=================

When I press the power button on the case, a Corsair 570X, all fans and the Corsair H100i V2 kick in, RGD lights function, USB ports power devices (none remain plugged in for troubleshooting), and the ASUS ROG's QLED strip flashed through DRAM (lights oprange and goes off), CPU (lights red and goes off), and VGA (lights white and remains on), at which point it stops, and never reaches the 4th QLED for Boot. Neither my case nor my board came with a system speaker, so POST beeps don't appear to be an option at the moment.

No video appears to be produced through the several monitors I have connected to it, and their respective input indicators indicate this as well.

I have tried a Sony 4K TV via HDMI and DP (onboard), a Dell 24" monitor via DP and HDMI, and a HP 25" monitor via DP and HDMI with the same results.

I have additionally tried all the above devices via two different independent GPUs, a R9 290 and again on a RX 570, with the same results, including DVI ports where available.

I have performed a CMOS Clear, as well as a CMOS battery pull + Clear, and the results remain the same.

I thought perhaps that a BIOS update may be required, although the X470 boards state that they are compatible with AMD Ryzen gen 2 CPUs natively, but I am unfortunately unfamiliar with how to perform a BIOS update on an ASUS ROG board without access to any video output. They lack the Flashback functionality of the Crosshair series.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hi Calvin7, thank you for the response.

The RAM is http://www.crucial.com/usa/en/bls8g4d26bfsc#productDetails , of which I have 3 sticks (only one installed in A2 at the moment while troubleshooting), and have tried the following configurations:

A1 + B1
A1 + A2
A1 + A2 + B1
A2
B2

Each configuration passes the Orange "DRAM" QLED upon pressing the power button, and I have confirmed that with all RAM modules removed, the Orange "DRAM" QLED does not pass, and remains solid Orange.

I have also tried this Corsair 4GB module of DDR4, which produces the same hand on White "VGA" QLED in all DIMMS:

Hi Calvin7,

Thanks again for the response; however, I mentioned above that I have tried a R9 290 a RX 570 GPU, as I was aware of the lack of iGPU on Ryzen series CPUs not sporting the G suffix (Raven Ridge, which have an iGPU).

For anyone else experiencing this, or similar, issues, I believe I have zeroed in of the issue, and it is indeed the BIOS.

According to the manufacturer's specifications for the ASUS ROG STRIX X470-F, the board is "Ryzen 2000 Series Ready".
However, this indicates readiness for the APUs of the Raven Ridge branch, as identified above, which come with Integrated Vega graphics (iGPU). This does not indicate compatibility out of the box with Pinnacle Ridge CPUs, such as the 2600, 2600X, 2700, and 2700X, which were released in April 2018.

https://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/ROG-STRIX-X470-F-GAMING/HelpDesk_CPU/

This CPU Support page indicates that BIOS version 0225 is required, but the board ships with BIOS version 0220, which only supports the Raven Ridge processors - including 2200G, 2200GE, 2400G, and 2400GE - out of the box.

I have a supported Ryzen 3 1200(3.1GHz,65W,L3:8M,4C,rev:B1) coming tomorrow, and once installed, I should be able to confirm if the CPU was the issue.

I've noticed many posts with similar issues on these forums, and so I'd like to nail this down for the community as a whole. Huge AMD fan, but some of the recent conventions around Ryzen are irritating for those buying newer hardware.

If I had it to do over again, I'd have purchased an ASUS Crosshair series board for the Flashback option, which is clearly a lifesaver when faced with the need of an out of box BIOS upgrade.

Calvin 7, I really, really appreciate the responses. Please keep following this and let's see it fixed!

After receiving the Ryzen 3 1200(3.1GHz,65W,L3:8M,4C,rev:B1) and swapping it for the Ryzen 5 2600, the build passed all QLEDs and loaded the BIOS.

I used the Network method to update from 0220 to 0225, and swapped back to the Ryzen 5 2600.

Everything is now working wonderfully, and I have confirmed that all of these RAM modules function as well.

Thank you for your help, and I hope that this information helps anyone else experiencing the same or similar issues.

***UPDATE***

After running for two days, a Windows 10 Update restarted the system, and the White QLED hang has repeated.

The system will no longer make boot progress beyond the White “VGA” QLED. I have reset the CMOS and reinstalled all components, but the issue persists.

I have also tried the Ryzen 3 Gen 1 CPU which worked for me last time, but the issue remains this time: no progress beyond the White QLED.
