I still have to check other programs.. but I just completed the following build:

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/8tXDFZ

I have 2 exhaust fans out the back, the AIO is set as intake, and bottom 3 fans as intake. Computer seems to run fin and idles about 38 degrees. I loaded Rust and it didn't get over 50 degrees. Loaded Battlefront II and it spiked to 83. After loading during play stayed about 50. I'll check other games but is there a reason for this?

The only concern I have had during this build was that Arctic suggests an X of thermal paste. I did what they said and had some spillage at the top which I cleaned.

I've not encountered another spike on anything else yet.

I tried it on Battlefield 2042 and it did the same thing. Started the game and momentary spike to 85 for 5-10 seconds then back down. When I jump into a match and its loading it spikes again but then back to normal after I am in the game.

The titles you've mentioned above, are both CPU intensive. Try and tax the system with a benchmarking app and see if you're getting the same temps.

On aside note, disable iGPU in BIOS, then try and undervolt your processor or use Curve Optimizer and see what results you get.

Ok, I'll give it a try and see what happens. I've never paid attention to temps. Just testing things out since everything is new. In game Im at 55-60 steady on everything

I ran cinebench multicore. I thought it would give me some sort of report.. but did the multi thread test and scored 1316 points?? Also temp never got over 82 during the test. I've been reading around and it seems like even momentary spikes in the mid 90s are normal for the 9800X3D..? What other tests should I consider? If there any benchmark that gives you an idea as to how well your cooling is doing vs the load put on it?
