New Build Dead, please help!

Just completed a new build...all plugged in excitedly pressed the power button...nothing!

The only possible explanation could be that i have only a 4pin power cable in the 8pin slot!? Yet i still expected something to happen when the power button was pressed.

Do you think the mobo is faulty?
The 4pin in 8pin is the cause?
Maybe something else?

my mobo is: gigabyte 770a ud3

you need an eight pin plugged in that spot. are you sure that 4 pin isnt 4+4? it will either be an eight pin or a 4+4 that plugs into there.

If you are referring to the 8pin aux cpu power than you need an adaptor for your psu. Something like this should suffice

Thank you for the responses: i have purchased an adapter and am awaiting delivery..do you think this will solve the problem then?

hard to say. I know that it has a cutoff to not work unless certain pins are powered so it is entirely possible.
