Hey
i7 6700k
asus aura pro gaming
h100i v2
1070 strix
16g ram 3000
525gb ssd
650psu
I just finished my build and tried booting, but the only issue is that no fans spin and the pump led doesnt light up but the the lights on the asus aura motherboard light up and i can see a small white led next to the 8 pin connector light up on the gpu. any suggestions? I have also followed http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/261145-31-perform-steps-posting-post-boot-video-problems all of the steps.
thanks
forgot to mention that even the psu fan isnt spinning

what are some of the things i might have to get a refund on?

what switch exactly? if the psu switch, then yes i do

well i cant get into my bios because nothing shows up on screen and i dont think there is anything wrong with the gpu i feel as if it is psu/mobo related

Greetings!

I would attempt two simple things first maybe...1. Trace all your cabling to ensure that everything is connected securely and in the proper places (new psus/cables can be a tight fit and may not be seated entirely in the connectors, also refer to mobo manual if needed to ensure proper locations of fan connectors and the like). 2. Perhaps you have a bad seat on your cpu and maybe just taking off the cooler and doing a simple re-seat (take cpu out, inspect socket for weirdness, re-install cpu and cooler). These are simple places to start that you can do quickly to rule out easy potentials.

Also, depending on your psu and gpu, those fans may not start until the unit is under sufficient load. Most current psus and gpus have this energy saving feature. The real question is if the fans on your cpu cooler start?

I hope this helps!

thanks will do what you mentioned above. and the fans on my cpu cooler dont start spinning nor do my case fans. i have pictures of everything plugged in on the mobo if thaat would help at all. http://imgur.com/a/SmRsX

Nice looking build!! Sorry to hear you are having challenges:-( Yeah, everything looks good as far as your connections on the mobo, but I would still check the connections at the psu itself and any extensions you may have in your cabling just to be diligent. I really hope it is a simple connection or cpu seat issue and not a faulty part. The next thing to try would be to borrow a friend's psu for a couple hours and hook it up to your build...this will at least rule out if your psu is wonky or not🙂

ok i just tested the psu with the little tester and i think the mobo is donezo. the psu fan did spin so it looks like imma have to get a new mobo tom or something. anyone know if they will let me get another one at microcenter?

Hmmm...well if the leds are functioning on the mobo, there is hope for it yet! It may still be a cpu seat or connection issue. Also, the only connection I couldn't see on the motherboard in your pics was your 8 pin cpu power (I assume it is connected and just hiding behind your radiator fans), but the rest of the cabling looks totally pro otherwise. Oh, btw, I found out about your question from the comments on JayzTwoCents CES2017 video! Sheesh, I hope it is an easy fix and not the mobo!

see and that is why im so confused. and thanks for the compliment btw i have been working super hard on this all day so it not booting kinda hurt me. im gonna strip the pc tomorrow, restart and see if i can get some action and not have to take the mobo back because that would be 1 hassle too many. i thought posting on jays vid would help me out, i really appreciate the help.

I mean the case power switch that connects to your motherboard - I don't know how many people connect the wires and find out that one of their biggest issues was that they overlooked it and reversed the polarity's when hooking it all up.
If the motherboard lights are all lit up - then there is still hope.

the 24 pinn connector right? i didnt know it a specific end had to plugged into the mobo/psu.

It was obvious from your pics that you had put time and care into your build (and that you obviously know what you are doing), and the feeling when it doesn't work is a pretty awful one. A new from scratch build is so full of excitement and potential...and money. Waiting for parts to arrive, and then finally the build! Reality is that parts fail, or are DOA, or there is just some little thing like a pin or two on a connector not quite close enough to flow power. I recently built a dual xeon system for 3d rendering. I spent an entire day modding the case to make the system fit, another full day building it, and a third installing the OS, apps, updates, and drivers. Woke up the fourth day to a black screen with error messages. I nearly died. Thankfully it was just a bad SSD that decided to fail immediately after completing all the setup. Had the machine back up and running that afternoon.

Just be diligent and breath and test/inspect everything...a simple solution may be hiding under a fan housing or connector clip.

Yeah, imma give it a retry tomorrow if not im gonna call up microcenter to see if they will let me switch out for a new one. And i can only imagine that feeling of the black screen with error messages. Probably give you that same heart wrenching feeling like the first time you get called down to the principals office.

I believe Tumeden is referring to the connections at the bottom right of your mobo...the ones for your case power button, hdd led, etc. I can see in your pics that they are connected, but double check to ensure they are connected in the correct way...they can actually be a bit tricky if not labelled well, if at all. Your manual should tell you the specifics if you need them.

yeah ive tried messing with that a couple of times already and still am not getting anything which is why i feel like there is something wrong with the mobo, but im hoping for the best

That's the feeling!! Exactly! Yeah, I am self employed artist (yes a starving one at that!) and forked out the $2900 (oof!) for my build out of my own pocket...I was truly scared I had just blown all my savings for nothing. Yeah, tackle it with a fresh morning brain, and I truly hope the solution is easy and hassle free. Keep us updated please!

Will do!
