Hey
i7 6700k
asus aura pro gaming
h100i v2
1070 strix
16g ram 3000
525gb ssd
650psu
I just finished my build and tried booting, but the only issue is that no fans spin and the pump led doesnt light up but the the lights on the asus aura motherboard light up and i can see a small white led next to the 8 pin connector light up on the gpu. any suggestions? I have also followed http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/261145-31-perform-steps-posting-post-boot-video-problems all of the steps.
thanks
forgot to mention that even the psu fan isnt spinning

Hmmmm.....spoopy....Here's a really dumb question (for you probably did this): Is your 8-pin CPU power plugged in? The 24-pin will run the mobo, but the additional power is required for the CPU to engage. You probably have it connected, but I am just grasping at all potentials at this point:)

had that plugged in as well, thinking about just putting it together and taking it to microcenter

Hmmm....starting to think it might be your CPU and not the motherboard...Know anyone with a compatible system that you can pop your CPU into to test? Maybe there is a fault in your PSU? Again, maybe you can borrow one from a friend and plug your system into it to test to rule out the PSU as the culprit. Just trying to troubleshoot...we can rule out Mobo for you have tried two, so just trying to whittle down the potentials...

i actually dont know anyone that has a compatible system which is why this sucks lol im thinking now that it is either psu or cpu now. didnt think id have this much trouble to go through, but it'll all be worth when its built

Well, durn! I don't have a MicroCenter near me, so I don't know what they offer, but maybe you can get the CPU and PSU tested there? If you have a bad part, and you purchased it from there originally, I imagine they will send you home with a replacement. Keep up the good fight! I know it is frustrating, but it is all temporary and solvable, and before you know it, you will be basking in the backlit pixel glow of your accomplishment:)

You don't have any standoffs behind your motherboard that you arent using do you? A standard ATX motherboard has between 8 and 9 standoffs. Take your motherboard out and count the screw holes in it, then count the standoffs in your case. If there are more standoffs that holes, remove any that you arent using, and hope your motherboard isnt fried. If there is less standoffs than holes, that isn't an electrical issue, but i would recommend putting all of them in that line up with your case.

Do you have an on-board GPU built into your motherboard by chance?

ok i have one more problem. when putting the pc to sleep or turning it off completely, it wont boot with anything plugged into the mobo/gpu. like i put it sleep earlier before i went to work, came back, moved the mouse, pushed keys on the keyboard and it wouldnt wake up. even pressing the case power/reset doesnt do anything. so i have to switch off the psu unplug everything (including the psu power) replug the psu power back in and boot from there and replug everything back into the mobo/gpu. any ideas?

I think I know what is going on! Gremlins! It be Gremlins. No, actually, I am really starting to feel like it is your PSU. This is pure weirdness, but it seems to be centered around your power draw...in fact, all of your issues seem to relate to power in some way or another it seems...hmmm...Let's see if we can rule out the PSU as the Gremlin...You mentioned that you didn't know anyone with a compatible PSU to try, but maybe you can try plugging your PSU into a friends system to see if it acts strange there. The other option is to test it with a meter to see if the output is stable and proficient. EVGA makes great PSUs. I have one in my system:) But maybe you got a funky one...it happens sometimes.

i read that it could possibly be bad usb hubs on the mobo not letting the system start up.

The Gremlins have moved into the DisplayPort now?!?! Cheeky Buggers! Ok, are your drivers all up to date? How about your BIOS? I am not sure when your motherboard was released, but if it was before the GTX 10 series came out, you may need an updated BIOS. Normally, a GPU wouldn't cause that issue, but seeing as it is new architecture, your motherboard may need updating. The other possibility (as I mentioned a moment ago) is your graphics drivers. Check and see if they are current, if not, update those and see if that makes a difference.

Dangit! We're gonna get you up and running if it is the last thing we do!!

im up and running just have to unplug DP in order to boot up. all my drivers are up to date and now my bios is also up to date. i looked up pc not booting with DP plugged in and this is what i found. https://www.reddit.com/r/pcmasterrace/comments/47umw4/my_pc_wont_boot_unless_i_unplug_displayport_cable/
i dont mind having to unplug the DP to boot but it would be a lot better and less annoying if i didnt have to. cant really find a solution besides buying a new cable with only 19 pins. will do that in a week or so to see if that is the actual issue.

Totally strange! I had no idea of the 3.3v power back surge happening through 20pin DP cables! Makes sense though as to why that would cause an issue. Sheesh...all down to a cable (maybe...hopefully)...I really hope that is the fix for sure and you can just enjoy your computer instead of the stress it is giving you!
