My current pc is getting old and slow, so I am buying new working pc in next month and I would appreciate any suggestions/opinions. It is going to be used mostly for work (DTP, Adobe suite - mostly InDesign and Photoshop), some home video editing and if there is some time left, maybe some easy gaming (I used to love playing F1, but my current built is way to slow to run F1 2012).
To save some space I want a mATX build and as silent as possible. Now I have Thermaltake Armor Jr. case and I found it quiet, new build shouldn't be any louder than this.
Overclocking is an option. From my experience, OC will gain me some speed at processing RAW files (and maybe video?), otherwise extra MHz are mostly useless.
So far I made this list of components (prices are from Amazon DE, but I will probably buy from different sources):
CPU Intel Core i7-3770K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor €300.89
CPU Cooler Scythe SCSMZ-2000 55.5 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler 29.68
- do I need cooler at all? or is original enough?
Motherboard Asus P8Z77-M PRO LGA1155
- (option Maximus V Gene Micro ATX LGA1155 €176.32 ?) I prefer Asus despite a bit higher price, because I have very good experience with it.
Memory G.Skill Ripjaws Z Series 32GB (4 x 8GB) DDR3-1600 Memory €129.85
- I am not familiar with G.Skill but I noticed it is often recommended here and price is acceptable, is this a good choice?
SSD Samsung 830 Series 256GB 2.5" Solid State Disk €160.89
HDD Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive €73.89
- for extra storage I use NAS so 1TB should be enough
Video Card Asus Radeon HD 7850 2GB Video Card €205.74
- I have no preferences here, I'd take what is most efficent in DTP applications. I use dual monitor setup (24'' + 17''), in future main monitor will be 27'' with 2560x1440 resolution
Case Silverstone SST-PS07B MicroATX Mini Tower Case €91.82
- case is hardest part to decide, I need it to have USB 3.0, to be quiet, compact and practical. So far this one (or TJ08-E) seems to be close to my wishes but I am open to any suggestion.
Power Supply Thermaltake Toughpower XT 775W 80 PLUS Bronze Certified ATX12V / EPS12V Power Supply €93.49
- I know its a bit too much, but for I like partial modularity as I dont expect much space in mATX case
