Hi,

My current pc is getting old and slow, so I am buying new working pc in next month and I would appreciate any suggestions/opinions. It is going to be used mostly for work (DTP, Adobe suite - mostly InDesign and Photoshop), some home video editing and if there is some time left, maybe some easy gaming (I used to love playing F1, but my current built is way to slow to run F1 2012).

To save some space I want a mATX build and as silent as possible. Now I have Thermaltake Armor Jr. case and I found it quiet, new build shouldn't be any louder than this.
Overclocking is an option. From my experience, OC will gain me some speed at processing RAW files (and maybe video?), otherwise extra MHz are mostly useless.

So far I made this list of components (prices are from Amazon DE, but I will probably buy from different sources):

CPU Intel Core i7-3770K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor €300.89

CPU Cooler Scythe SCSMZ-2000 55.5 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler 29.68
- do I need cooler at all? or is original enough?

Motherboard Asus P8Z77-M PRO LGA1155
- (option Maximus V Gene Micro ATX LGA1155 €176.32 ?) I prefer Asus despite a bit higher price, because I have very good experience with it.

Memory G.Skill Ripjaws Z Series 32GB (4 x 8GB) DDR3-1600 Memory €129.85
- I am not familiar with G.Skill but I noticed it is often recommended here and price is acceptable, is this a good choice?

SSD Samsung 830 Series 256GB 2.5" Solid State Disk €160.89
HDD Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive €73.89
- for extra storage I use NAS so 1TB should be enough

Video Card Asus Radeon HD 7850 2GB Video Card €205.74
- I have no preferences here, I'd take what is most efficent in DTP applications. I use dual monitor setup (24'' + 17''), in future main monitor will be 27'' with 2560x1440 resolution

Case Silverstone SST-PS07B MicroATX Mini Tower Case €91.82
- case is hardest part to decide, I need it to have USB 3.0, to be quiet, compact and practical. So far this one (or TJ08-E) seems to be close to my wishes but I am open to any suggestion.

Power Supply Thermaltake Toughpower XT 775W 80 PLUS Bronze Certified ATX12V / EPS12V Power Supply €93.49
- I know its a bit too much, but for I like partial modularity as I dont expect much space in mATX case

Optical Drive Sony BD-5300S-0B Blu-Ray/DVD/CD Writer €108.03

Silverstone makes some excellent cases - I have one of their HTPC cases and it's great.

That build is a pretty good start - Thermaltake PSUs are not that great, and I'd go with the P8Z77 over the GENE-Z as the latter board is meant for gaming and for your uses you most likely won't use all its' features. If you're not overclocking you don't need the unlocked CPU.

I'd suggest a build like this (using German website Hardware Versand) :

Case: Fractal Design Arc MINI - 79,03 €
PSU: Corsair Enthusiast Series TX650 V2 - 81,61 €
Motherboard: Asrock H77 Pro 4 / MVP mATX - 73,49 €
CPU: 3.5GHz Intel Core i7-3770 - 269,85 €
RAM: 8GB G.Skill Ares 1600MHz 1.5V 2 x 4GB - 34,62 €
SSD: 128GB Samsung 830 - 87,56 €
HD: 1TB Samsung Spinpoint F3 - 104,87 €
Optical: Samsung SH-118AB schwarz - 13,06 €
Video Card: Gigabyte Geforce GTX 660TI - 282,44 €

Total: 1.026,53 €

For Photoshop uses a 660TI will be better than a 7850 will be and I adjusted the motherboard and CPU accordingly.

Thanks for Arc mini advice, it seems as good solution, although it is quite bigger as PS07. But why did you use smaller SSD and remove blu-ray?

BTW, is Hardware Versand reliable store?

I used a smaller SSD because with the secondary - all your large data (movies, music, photos, etc) will get stored on it.

Hardware Versand looks pretty legit, I don't know since I live in California but I've seen it around here multiple times.

I'm just a bit curius, why so few replys to my build. I noticed most questions are gaming PC related, and most of you are experts in this area rather than working PCs.
I apologize for language, but English is not my native language so I might made some weird sentences :)
