New build how to get windows

I'm building a gaming pc on a budget and windows 8 really screws up my budget. How can I get it cheap? I don't want to spend $90 on it. Should I buy a copy of windows xp off ebay and use the upgrade online? I'm not sure what to do. I am looking for recommendations on how to get windows 8, preferably 64bit, without having to spend $90. Thanks

i recommend Ubuntu/Lubuntu or Mint for beginners.

Personally, I only have one computer with that sort of setup. If you are talking about what I think you are talking about. Windows is getting expensive.

You are just going to have to suck it up and buy the $90 software. Not worth breaking the law for that kind of money, is it?

What you are saying is kind of like if your employer asked, "You know, paying John his full wage is really eating into my budget. Can you think of a way I could get him to do the same work for less money, or even free?"
