Hey guys,
I'm planning a new build since my pc is now outdated.

So here is my build:

CPU: Intel i5 6600K

GPU: 2x Sapphire Radeon RX 480 Nitro+ 4GB

MOBO: Gigabyte GA-Z170-HD3P

RAM: 2x 8GB HyperX FURY

SSD: 250GB Samsung 750 Evo 2.5"

COOLER: Corsair Hydro Series H100i v2

CASE: Cooler Master MasterCase Pro 5

HDD, DVD writer and maybe fans from my old pc could be also connected.

Now I need your help for my PSU choice. I want a modular Power Supply with 80+ Gold or better and I can't decide between the 750 Watt Corsair RMi or the 650 Watt Corsair RMi. Do I have to count me peripherals as well?

I Think they are very good PSU's and very efficient what do you think are 650 Watts enough?

You can suggest other Power Supply's as well not only those two.

Thank you!

Solution

you wont get the performance you want out of it. the VRAM will be a bottleneck. its only $40 more for 8s, or for $40 less, you could go with a single 1070 which will do what you need it to do

wait for rx 490 or get 480 8gb's.

and definitely get the 750 watt at least. two of those will pull almost 400 watts without an overclock. figure in about 200 watts for overclocked CPU and the rest thats 600... you want a little headroom, i try to stay under 80%.

I don't think my budget is good enough for 2x 8gb or rx 490 that's why i want to go with 2x 4gb.
I want to play 1080p at high with at least 60fps all new games or maybe 1440p but i'm not interested in 4k gaming.

So the only difference between the RMi and the RMx is the Link? Because i think i will not use the link for anything.

its always better to get one big card instead of two small cards...not all games work that well with sli/crossfire...

Solution

From many benchmarks that i saw the crossfire Rx480 outperforms the 1070 and its almost as good as a 1080

benchmarks will use the 8 GB versions. that makes a difference. and thats only with games that fully implement crossfire.

2 x 4gb 480 cannot outperform the 1070...i agree with Tofulion...
