Question New Build / New Everything / PC won't power up / No Dr. Debug code showing ?

Hi all,

I had big plans this Christmas to build my first gaming / work rig in years. However, I've run into the following problems:
  1. Computer won't switch on
  2. Asrock Dr. Debug code is blank so I cannot troubleshoot (the Power and Reset button lights glow white though. CMOS / BIOS lights on back of mobo plate glow red)
PC Specs
Mobo: ASRock X870E Taichi Lite
CPU: Ryzen 7 9800X3D
GPU: MSI GeForce RTX 4060 Ti VENTUS 16G
RAM: Corsair Vengeance 64GB, DDR5-6000, CL30, AMD EXPO, Dual-Kit
PSU: be quiet! Straight Power 12 1000W
Physical Drives: Corsair MP700 2TB - Pro NVMe SSD, PCIe 5.0 M.2 Typ 2280

I have tried the following:
  1. I have taken the computer to pieces and rebuilt on a table outside the case to make sure it was all connected, standoffs not causing issues, etc
  2. I have made sure the two 8-pin connectors on mobo are plugged into the PSU. I have the main mobo conenctor plugged into the PSU (there is also a wire off this main wire labelled 'Motherboard' and this is also plugged into the PSU). AIO is all plugged in to Sata power cable.
  3. I took out the battery and put back in to reset it.
  4. I moved the AIO PWM connector from AIO to CPU1 and then CPU2 headers.
  5. I tried pressing the power buttom on the mobo instead of relying on the F panel connectors.
  6. I took out the second RAM stick to see if that would work.
  7. I took out the GPU to see if that would work.
  8. I checked the M.2 was fitted properly.
Further Ideas to try:
  1. I am thinking it mightbe PSU or mobo related. I.e. surely there should be debug codes shown if it were any of the other components? The fact nothing is showing is indicative of PSU or Mobo problems, no?
  2. Flash BIOS (but surely it would still have booted even if RAM, SSD and CPU are not supported?)
  3. Plug cable into wall outlet rather than extension
  4. Buy a cheap PSU for troubleshootoing purposes
  5. Order replacement motherboard.
Hoping someone on the forums can advise if there's anything I'm missing or should try? I'm not a novice builder but I'm far from an expert!

I would try and flash the BIOS on the motherboard using this guide;

If you're having a PSU/power delivery issue, you should be able to get POST with the iGPU since your processor has one on the CPU die.

Rams are populating slots A2 and B2? Please check and see if the CPU's socket has any bent or broken pins. When reseating the CPU be gentle with it and don't mount your AIO with too much force, just have it resting on your CPU's IHS. Speaking of AIO's, you didn't mention it in your specs.

  2. Re what you write about PSU/power delivery & iGPU - not sure what you are suggesting here?
  3. RAM is in A2 & B2.
  4. AIO is a Galahad II Trinity. I mounted as per the manual and tightened the screws until they would no longer turn. But I do not think I tightened the screws forcibly beyond this. Could this be the issue? I can loosen the bolts somewhat after checking if the socket looks okay.

Basically I have tried the following this evening:

1) Flashed the BIOS to the latest

2) Loosened the CPU heatsink screws and reseated the CPU

3) Removed the CPU heat sink

4) Removed everything except for cpu, memory and power from mobo

5) Rest the CMOS again

6) Connected straight to wall outlet

7) Put AIO connector into CPU fan header

8) Checked if CPU or mobo socket was damaged

9) Did paperclip test on PSU (the fans spun)


Nothing has worked!
