Hi all,

I'm a new in computer building and just finished my first build yesterday. First boot everything worked fine, however I managed to forget to connect the molex connector for the fan hub.

After unplugging all cords from the computer and moving it in to an open space, I discovered that the connector was damaged. I just managed to fix it this morning. after plugging everything back in the monitor displayed the 'no cable connected' message. So far I've tried :

- Restarting the computer
- Unplugging and plugging in the monitor in again
- Using the onboard graphics instead of the GPU
- Reinstalling the GPU
- Checking HDD connections
- Reinstalling RAM modules
- Booting with one (1) stick of RAM
- Using normal SATA ports instead of the express SATA ports

MOBO: ASUS Z97-A / 326457-01170-MB0ID0-B09 1304

After starting the computer I get the following series of LED blinks:
CPU > DRAM > VGA > CPU > DRAM > VGA > BOOT_DEVICE (this one stays on)

I'm reasonably new to the is, so be patient with me :pt1cable:.

All fans working properly, there is no internal speaker to be connected to the motherboard.

I don't think that's possible, I live in a pretty remote area. I believe the motherboard is working properly as the POST indicated every is functioning

1.) Did you fan hub control the CPU fan as well? If so, you may have over-heated the CPU.
2.) Does your motherboard have a light / screen on it to show the results of the POST check?
3.) What is your system config? I will need to know in order to understand the light / letter codes of the mobo.

Okay I'm a bit confused, did you get a post?
If not likely it's a dead motherboard.

Did you plug in the fan to the motherboard and the psu at the same time?
if so undo it, just plug into one of them.
Take the gpu out and put it in again, sometimes they come out of place.

If none works it's probably dead, It happened to me before sad.
Hey before you actually do throw it out or anything, check for mobo codes as MCServerOwner stated. Are there beeps or lights?
If so check online for what they mean, 1 beep, 2 beep, long beep then short beep? short beeps? or all long beeps?

Hopefully it's not dead!

1.) The fan hub didn't control the cpu fan, on first boot it was the only one running
2.) The motherboard has a bunch of LEDs
3.) The motherboard is a ASUS Z97-a / 326457-01170-MB0ID0-B09 1304

POST LEDs are all off except the 'BOOT_DEVICE_LED'

I have two (2) HDDs installed one of which has windows 7 on it.

I'm getting a sequence of LED blinks now, the sequence is as following:
CPU > DRAM > VGA > CPU > DRAM > VGA > BOOT_DEVICE (this one stays on).

In the manual I can't seem to find the LED codes for the MOBO either I'm terrible at finding things or it isn't in there, I think.

Reseat the drive cables.

Check your BIOS settings to make sure all your drives are recognized, and the boot order is the one you want.

Your hard drive is most likely fine, just not being detected.

Reseated the cables, still nothing :( just my luck. I have no idea if this matters or not, on first boot I installed win 7 through a USB drive.
