Hi,

I have just recently purchased all the components to build my first computer, sat down last night and after assembling everything I could not get it to boot. I guess the first step is to give you my components and such:

CPU Intel Core i7-2600 Processor 3.4GHz 8 MB Cache Socket LGA1155
MOBO MSI LGA1155/Intel P67 B3/DDR3/SATA3&USB3.0/A&GbE/ATX Motherboard P67A-C43 (B3)
Hard Drive Seagate ST31000524AS Barracuda Hard Drive - 1TB, SATA 6Gbps, 7200 RPM, 32MB
SDD OCZ Technology 30 GB Vertex Series SATA II Solid State Drive 3.0 Gb-s OCZSSD2-1VTX30G
Cooling Cooler Master V8 CPU Fan - Socket 1366/775/AM2/AM2+,1156, AM3 120mm Fan, Modular Aluminum Fins
Power Corsair Enthusiast TX V2 Series 750-Watt 80 Plus Bronze Certified High Performance Modular Power Supply CP-9020003-NA
Optical Sony 24X SATA Internal DVD+/-RW Drive AD-7260S-0B - Bulk (Black)
Windows 7 Windows 7 Home
Memory Corsair CMX8GX3M2A1600C9 XMS3 16GB DDR3 RAM Kit - 4 x 4GB, PC12800, 1600MHz
Video EVGA 01G-P3-1460-KR GeForce GTX 560 Video Card - 1GB, GDDR5, PCI-Express 2.0 (x16), 2x Dual-Link DVI-I, Mini-HDMI, DirectX 11, Dual-Slot, SLI Ready
Tower Cooler Master RC-932-KKN5-GP HAF 932 Advance Full Tower Case - ATX, Black, SuperSpeed USB 3.0

Now, after it didn't post I disconnected everything except the bare minimum, so I ended up trying to trouble shoot by only hooking up:

the CPU, the stock fan (I took off the Cooler Master V8), which uses a 24 ATX connection and a 8 ATX connection and a CPU fan connection (the one w/ 4 pins)
the video card (using 2 PCI-e connections for power and the PCI-e slot in the mobo),
the 4 sticks of RAM

also I have the power switch and the little speaker to hear the beeps plugged in, but that is all.

(sorry it posted before I was ready)

When I boot up I get 3 quick beeps like "boop boop beep" and it doesn't post. I have tried adjusting all connections, switching out the RAM using one stick at a time, etc. All fans boot up, on the case, the Intel and the video card. Plus I get 4 blue LED lights on the mobo.

My question is, what should I be investigating to fix it? Is it bad RAM, a bad MOBO, possibly even a bad CPU? I was very careful to readily touch metal before touching any components. What information can I provide to give you more detail that can help you? Should I get in touch with MSI (mobo) or Corsair (RAM)?

Thanks, any feedback would be appreciated!

Thanks mxsix. So it was definitely the video card, I swapped out an old card and it booted up. All the components were detected and I installed Windows 7. However, it still beeps 3 times at start up! Like I said, all the fans, LED's, cooler, SSD, DVD, and power supply all work. Do you have any thoughts on why it continues to beep?

I clicked properties on "my computer" and it reads 16GB RAM (which it should) so does that mean my RAM is OK?

Thanks, Kevin

Hey glad I could help! If it keeps beeping, check your motherboard manual (or see if the manufacturer's website has a more detailed one) with beep codes. You could also try disconnecting components like the RAM (try using known good sticks if you have them) and just try to narrow it down on a component-by-component basis.
