I recently built my first computer. For the past two days, I have been able to successfully turn on the computer and edit BIOS settings, etc. Today when I tried to turn on the computer to install Linux from a DVD, the computer wouldnt turn on. After checking to make sure all the cables were connected, it still wouldnt work, then seemingly randomly, i pressed the power button and it turned on. I then turned off the computer and tried to turn it on again but then it didnt work. So i tried removing my RAM one by one and then putting them back; my computer worked after trying this, but then after turning it off and on again it didnt work. Why will my computer only turn on some of the time?

Sounds like you might have an issue with your panel switch. Try disconnecting the power switch from the motherboard and then starting by shorting the two m/b pins. Just a brief touch is all that's needed.

What case, m/b, cpu and psu are you using?

I have :
Nzxt source elite 210
Gigabyte z68xp-ud3
I5 3570k
Ocz zt 750w

I tried switching around the power and reset switches but nothing happened. I also double checked the manual to make sure they are now plugged in correctly

I checked these and they are indeed connected still no luck
