New to the forum.. Going to build a pc and wanted to get some feedback..

Motherboard:
ASUS P5Q3 DELUXE/WIFI-AP CH1-11 LGA 775 Intel P45 ATX Intel Motherboard

CPU:
Intel Core 2 Quad Q9650 3.0GHz LGA 775 95W Quad-Core Processor Model BX80569Q9650

Memory:
Kingston HyperX 6GB (3 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 2000 (PC3 16000) Triple Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model KHX16000D3ULT1K3/6GX

Couple questions.

Is this a good choice for MB, CPU Best bang for the buck?

Is that the right memory choice?

What is your guys recommendation on a Video board.
(Gaming, Video editing)?

Need recommendation on a good power supply.

Your feedback is greatly appreciated.

ftlkid24,

computersss' recommendations are spot on. The CPU/Mobo/Ram are perfect for your price point. For PSU I'd go with the PC Power & Cooling.

Was thinking

ASUS ENGTX260/HTDP/896M GeForce GTX 260 896MB 448-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card - Retail

for the video board.

What resolution does your monitor run at? That will be a big deciding factor on what GPU will work best for you.

What case and burner do you have? If the burner is IDE, I would spend the $25 and get a new SATA one instead. All the old IDE cables do is block airflow. You also need a case with good airflow for a high-end build like you're considering. It just seems a little silly to try to save a buck on the burner and case on a $1500 build.

What case do you have? Specifically what resolution is your monitor? 1680x1050? 1920x1200? This is very pertinent info for a gaming rig. Like shortstuff_mt said, if its an IDE drive, ditch it.

xthekidx I like that Video card. I noticed it has 2 6pin PCIe power connectors on the side. We chose the
PC Power & Cooling S75CF 750W EPS12V SLI NVIDIA SLI Certified (Dual 8800 GTX and below) CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS Certified Active PFC Power Supply - Retail
Power supply which only has 1. Do i need to plug in 2 6 pin connectors?

Here is the list so far.

Hard Drive:
Seagate ST3640323AS 640GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive - OEM $69.99

Video Card:
MSI N260GTX-T2D896-OCv2 GeForce GTX 260 896MB 448-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card $180.00

Power Supply:
PC Power & Cooling S75CF 750W EPS12V SLI NVIDIA CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS Certified Active PFC Power Supply $119.99

Memory:
OCZ Platinum 6GB (3 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Triple Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model OCZ3P1600LV6GK $109

Motherboard:
ASUS P6T LGA 1366 Intel X58 ATX Intel Motherboard $239.99

CPU
Intel Core i7 920 Nehalem 2.66GHz LGA 1366 130W Quad-Core Processor Model BX80601920 $288.99

The PC P&C PSU has the right connectors for two GTX 260's in SLI if you wanted. However with only 12x10 res it will be a waste. A 4850 is probably too much GPU for your resolution right now, unless you wanted to play crysis on the highest settings, then the 4850 would be about right. I would upgrade the monitor if I were you, but if you don't want to do that, then these GPU's would be enough for you:

Hmm ok well how about you go with one of those GPU's I listed up there^^^ right now, and then when you get more monitors you can xfire another one? That will be about right for gaming at 1680x1050
