I put together a new build tonight consisting of the following parts:
ASRock Z390 Extreme 4
i5 9600k
16gb Kingston HyperX Predator DDR4 3200MHz
Sapphire RX580 Nitro+
Samsung 860 500GB SATA (two weeks old, from old pc)
Thermaltake Litepower 700 PSU (few years old, from old pc)

I put it all together, started it up, and it booted into Windows 10 just fine.
After a couple of minutes, it switched off. I switched it back on and it came on for half a second before stopping again.

I removed all the non essentials, so I just had motherboard, CPU, ram, and PSU. No change.
I tried one stick of ram at a time, and even tried without any ram. No change.
I pulled the CPU and cooler off and checked there were no bent pins or debris.
I tried the PSU in the old pc again and it worked fine in there.

Any ideas of what I can try next? Or likely causes.

Solution
Hard to say. Something failed. Try connecting an internal speaker to the board and check for beeps, or try RMA-ing both board and CPU. A local pc store might also help, in identifying the failure.

Thanks aelxoiu.
I don't have a speaker available, so I guess I'll have to try RMA-ing them.

Although I noticed today that the motherboard CPU support list shows that my CPU is supported since BIOS version P1.80, but according to the stickers on the BIOS chips it has P1.60.
Do you think this could be related?
