Hi all!
Three weeks ago I assembled a new PC, which was working fine...until it stopped working today.
The components are as follows:
Case
bequiet! Silent Base 802
Mainboard
AsusROG STRIX B760-F
PSU
ASUS ROG Strix 750W Gold Aura Edition
CPU
Intel i5-14600KF
CPU Cooler
Noctua NH-D15
GPU
Gigabyte 4070 Super Gaming OC
Storage
Samsung 990 Pro 2 TB
RAM
Kingston FURY Beast 2*16GB, DDR5-5600, CL36-38-38
Everything worked fine on a Windows 11 installation. But now there seems to be no more power coming into the system. The fans don't start and no indicators light up* that the mainboard would show me. I have done the following steps with and without the graphics card installed.
- First of all, I checked all the connections. They were still working a moment ago and I couldn't find any loose cables or bent pins.
- PSU: According to my findings, the power supply unit should be OK. I jump-started it and both the fan and the RGB part were working. The 24-pin connector is therefore also faultless. I put it back into the system and connected everything, but it no longer runs. PSU fan and RGB lighting remain off. In the new-built state, both also came on when switched on.
- My next thought went in the direction of the front panel. Maybe there is something wrong with the connections under the power button. I then shorted the power switch pins manually and again nothing happened.
- Mainboard: As already mentioned above, nothing happens with the power supply when connected to the mainboard. And in general, the board shows no signs that it is receiving power. No LEDs to indicate errors. I have varied the RAM kits, tested them individually with no results. I also did a CMOS reset.
* Only the upper rear panel LED from the plugged-in network cable actually lights up. Or is the light power coming from the network connection itself? Everything else seems to be dead.
The fact that I can't get the mainboard to work manually makes me particularly suspicious.
I hope that one of you has some ideas. Especially to rule out sources of error and that it is actually one component and not several. Including myself, I lack the experience in assembly. On the plus side, as long as it ran, it ran well.
