Hey all I just sold my old desktop and I am looking to upgrade. Here is what I have so far comments etc. appreciated. I have compiled this after reading a few sites and looking at Thergood's build, I plan to do the same as him with the computer looking at making the purchase in the next month or so. You don't need 1000w. An 800w would would do fine but the PSU I listed is very cheap and efficient than most 800w available.

Better unit (imo) and is $32 cheaper after promo code and rebate. Also, Silver to Gold is almost no difference, so you get a cheaper unit with more watts, just as reliable if not better.

I would prefer you to go nvidia, and a single GTX590 is roughly the same price, and i think you could probably upgrade to the second in the future. Performance from CFX of those 2 and a single GTX590 will be basically the same for most games.

With all this money we saved, get a Crucial M4 SSD. They are rated #1 on the market, and are synchronous. This means, unlike asynchronous drives that lose speed at 50% capacity, this will run at 100% rated efficiency until 80% capacity is used up.


This being said, you are looking at spending appr. $180 more, but i think this will run a much smoother system and give you much better upgrade options in the future (another GTX590? ehh?)
