Hey!

My i5 6600 is starting to slowly breathe its last breath and my 1060 6GB is not delivering enough FPS for Shooters,
so i think its finally time to upgrade!

What i came up with:
GPU: MSI GeForce RTX 3060 Ti Gaming Z Trio
CPU: Ryzen 9 5900X
Mainboard: ASUS ROG STRIX B550-A GAMING
RAM: Corsair Vengeance RBG Pro 16 GB (2x8GB) 3600 MHz C18 Black
SSD: SanDisk Ultra 3D SSD 2 TB
PSU: be quiet! Straight Power 11 750W
Monitor: AOC Gaming 24G2 60cm (23.8 inch) 144hz

Does this Build look compatible and good? It's been a long while since i looked into PC related stuff :D

Should be decent. You might consider getting say a 500gb ssd as a boot drive and use the 2tb as storage for games etc. Keep in mind that am4 is on the way out, should be just a week or two until am5. So you may see what that brings.

I’ve actually got a 5900x that I need to get installed tonight probably. Another note, the 5900x does not come with a cooler so you need to get one of those. If it’s purely for gaming, you could also check on the 5800x3d. But again no cooler.

If you can wait, maybe wait to see what am5 brings. If nothing else maybe there will be more price drops on current stuff. Just things to keep in mind. One other thing, on a cpu like the 5900x, might be a good idea to get 32gb ram. That will probably be one of my last updates to my pc, except maybe a larger storage ssd later.

Sorry for the late reply

Forgot to mention, i already have a 240G SSD (SanDisk SDSSDA240G) that i use for my windows instalation!

Its Purely for Gaming. I aimed higher with the Cores and Threads as i don't want to ever have certain Games Freeze my PC because its permanently overloaded. Might be overkill for me to get the 5900x, i dunno. I mainly play Valorant, ARK: Survival Evolved, Diablo 3 and Path of Exile. But i want to be able to play games for the next few years to come until i make a big upgrade yet again!

From what i've seen, AM5 does not warrant the price for the Motherboard + RAM unless going for the top high end chip, wich i dont need.
After researching the 5800x3D, i've seen allot of people praise it to high heavens. Might be worth it

Update: I talked to a friend and he suggested to instead get a RTX 3070 instead, but is it worth it for 1080P Gaming? In Shooters, i will play with minimum Graphics anyways to get the most FPS and i was never someone that had to play on high Settings. Would a RTX 3070 be worth it for me?

Thanks!

I would rather buy a 5600x or non x and a 3070. 12400 or 12600k is also a valid choice. Consider getting a 1440p monitor instead.

If you get a better price consider also the rx 6700xt, 6750xt or even 6800xt. I’ve got the 6700xt which is the level I think of the 3060ti-3070. Decent card. I’m using a 144hz 1080p display and mostly on higher graphics settings it runs great with my 5900x. If you stay on 1080p and go to low or very low settings you may actually bottleneck your cpu a bit. However, you get a 5600x with a 6700xt or 3070, you definitely should be able to turn up the details and still have high fps. One thing I’ve heard and it seems to be, when you have a cpu like a 5900x with higher core count, that you seem to have just a little bit smoother experience and that the frame times etc seem to be a bit better, but in this case definitely something like the 5600 or 5600x and a good gpu will certainly provide a good experience.
