Missing motherboard model, GPU if applicable, a list of stuff you have already tried to fix it, a description of what happens when you try to turn it on and what you are expecting to happen that doesn't.
Motherboard MSI X470 gaming pro
GPU xfx rx580.
verified connections, this is the first time experiencing this fault.
Absolutely no response to the power switch.

Even if there is a short in the wiring, the PSU should still at least flick on for a split second before over-current trips. If you don't get at least that much, either the PSU isn't receiving AC power (check the power cord, hard switch on the PSU, extensions, etc.), is dead/defective or the PSU isn't being told to turn on. (re-check case switch wiring and ATX12V connector.)

Unplug and re-plug every power connection to the motherboard...also re-seat all of your hardware...every piece.

If still no good then it's time to strip things down.

Take everything out except the cpu and 1 memory stick...you should be able to boot into the bios.

If you still have nothing with the minimal setup then I would suggest removing the board from the case and verifying the motherboard standoffs are in the correct locations and you don't have one shorting out the back of the board.

If the standoffs are ok and you still can't get into the bios with just the cpu and one memory stick installed then you either have a bad power supply, motherboard, or cpu.

You can buy a cheap 15 dollar power supply tester online or borrow one to verify yours is good...the cpu and/or motherboard may require an RMA.
