Hey everyone. I have a 6 month old Dell XPS 8940 that I just plain hate. I do have great aftermarket RAM, it did come with a great CPU, I do have 2 aftermarket SSD and a weak little aftermarket Geforce GTX 1050ti ...I know Dell makes most of it's gear proprietary, I have learned that since purchasing. (I'm relatively new in the PC game. I had no idea I'd run into so many problems with a Dell).
I'm looking at building a new PC. I realize I'll need a new MOBO and new power supply, to get around Dells proprietary-ness.
I am curious however, is my Intel Core i7-10700 keepable? Worth keeping? Easy to keep?
My RAM of course is easy, and universal.
My SSD's as well.
I likely will just bite the bullet and upgrade my graphics while doing all of this as well.
I essentially just want a new case, better graphics and maybe liquid cooling, as this pre-built gets up and above 90 degrees while playing the least stressful games on earth. I do however recognize that with the proprietary bits and pieces, I'm going to have to do a bit of work to upgrade.
So to narrow my question down a bit. Will it be possible (and easy enough) to re-use my CPU, or should I be building this PC from the ground up?
Thanks a lot guys!
