new built computer, quality problem

I built a new computer several months ago (a little after December) its a an intel core i5 6500 MSI gaming h170 mobo and an amd r9 390. The only problem is when I was playing diablo I realized the screen was really dark when the game had shadows so I adjusted the brightness, it says stop when u can barely see the symbol. I maxed the brightness and don't even see the symbol. I was playing minecraft and was in a dark cave the cave was darker than when I play on someone elses computer, mine is way darker. my monitor is a gateway so its not really great, its the hd2200 but I think its one of the older models. I use a program that brightens my screen quite a bit but I would still like the lightings to be correct. if anyone can be of any help it would really be appreciated.

well it might that you use a cheap tn based monitor can you give me the brand and model.

gateway hd2200, I'm thinking it is just a cheap monitor XD, ill look into a new one

p.s. when I click the wifi icon in the lower corner of my screen (I use windows) it takes forever to load any setting, do u know how I can fix that up XD thanks
