New built PC wont turn on

I turned my newly built PC on and the CPU cooler fan spins, the case fans spins and the GPU fans spin for about 5 seconds then stops. any ideas? I dont get anything on my monitor as well...

Can you hear any beeps when you turn the power on?

If you can, there can be anywhere from a single beep to multiple short and/or long beeps. If you hear those, let me know what the beeps were.

I dont hear any beeps, but the left side of the motherboard is red (I think thats the colour it is when it goes on) and there is a number bottom middle of the motherboard, but I dont think that means anything

make sure cpu is seated properly recheck your wiring memory seated prop and gpu go through again

Ok I took out the GPU and let the CPU graphics card do its thing and it works, but im a bit confused about the GPU, can someone tell me about how the GPU should be plugged in?

Make and model of GPU?

Put the GPU in PCI-E slot and connect the GPU to your PSU.

Make sure it is firmly in place.


Also, is it your first time building a system?

I got it to work, I was putting the HDMI cable not in the GPU but in something else lol. But I am currently installing windows 8 but the GPU fans are not spinning, is this normal?

It is not normal for GPU fans to not be on if the card is powered on. But there are some lower end cards that do not generate the amount of heat that most do. What brand and model video card is it?
